The National Harbor is, at present...mid-August, 2008...a national embarrassment and a great disappointment. The architecture is pedestrian and boring at best; an unsightly mish-mash at its worst. When you think of the materials and technology available to builders and architects, why in the world couldn't they have done better!

The best part of visiting is the great Water Taxi ride and the view from the hill leading up to the ugly hotel. The hotel is geared toward conventioneers. Don't expect to go there and be able to have a pleasant drink/appetizer and enjoy the view in quiet. It's not going to happen.
Take the Water Taxi...walk around, if you can stand the ugliness...and enjoy the Water Taxi ride back to beautiful Alexandria.
